All of us digital marketers will acknowledge that our space is changing rapidly. It’s been a struggle for many of us at iQuanti to keep on top of it.

Just keeping up would take huge amount of reading. Thanks to “content marketing”, more and more stuff is published, sometimes with blatant disregard to quality.

To wade through this sea of content and come up with a few articles that would enable us to stay educated, we asked over 200 digital marketers to hand-pick their best digital marketing reads of the month. We developed an analytical curation framework to score these (based on business relevancy, quality of insight, data analysis, popularity etc.) and then had a small team review the top scorers to come up with a list of three articles.

Here is a caveat – this is subjective. Many articles were good and we were focused on a very narrow objective – coming up with a list of three articles which offered the best of digital marketing reads for time-strapped iQuantians.

As we shared this, other digital marketers expressed interest. So we just decided to publish iQuanti’s best digital marketing reads for October 2018.

Here are the three:

Reading time: 14 mins

Blockchain beyond Bitcoin has seen a lot of hype so far. But it is a technology with some serious potential and many applications. This HBR article explores blockchain’s applications in digital marketing. It is an interesting exploration and reminds us that the future may be closer than we think. Though who knows – Jeff Bezos famously promised drone delivery in five years, years ago.

For those of us who need a refresher on how Blockchain works, there is a link in the article to a short whiteboard session (viewing time: 9 mins) on how blockchain works.

Have you noticed how Google has, over time, moved away from being a search engine that drives people to answers across the web, to a platform that offers self-hosted answers and solutions? What does this mean for brands investing in SEO and their saavy search marketers? Here is Rand Fishkin’s take on the shift in Google’s behavior and tips on how marketers can stay ahead of the curve in these changing times.

There is a link to Rand’s on-topic talk at Brighton SEO (viewing time: 32 mins) available in the article as well which is pretty good.

Digital strategy: The four fights you have to win
Reading time: 12 mins

Large corporations struggle with digital transformation. We work with some of the world’s largest firms and are constantly amazed at how difficult it is.

This is a thoughtful McKinsey article offering insights into the challenges large organizations have to face to make the move to a digital future and recommendations to address the challenges. Most of these businesses are fighting two fights – one enhancing the current business and customer experience to being up to date while on the other hand, looking at their business models being completely disrupted.

It addresses the people side of addressing the challenges, which is very real.

Drop a note to us if you think there are other articles that should have made it to the list (or should make it to the list for November).

Happy reading!
