A technical problem can be easy to work around. Finding out why it keeps happening is a different challenge. That distinction has shaped the way Alisha Ranjan approaches engineering at iQuanti.
Alisha joined iQuanti as an intern and has now spent five years with the organization, including four years as a full-time Software Engineer. During this time, she has worked across frontend, backend, cloud infrastructure, performance optimization, and solution design. Her experience across different technologies and problem areas has gradually changed how she approaches her work, moving her focus beyond writing code to understanding the problem, considering scalability, and thinking about the outcome.

Solving the Problem at Its Root
A notable part of Alisha’s work at iQuanti has been her contribution to the Editor feature in ALPS. She took a deeper approach to understanding an existing technical issue, traced it to its root cause, and implemented a solution that improved the feature’s reliability and client experience.
The work gave Alisha an opportunity to look beyond the immediate symptoms and understand the problem more thoroughly. The solution has continued to perform as expected, without the same issue recurring.
The experience reinforced the value of taking the time to understand a problem fully and developing a solution with its broader impact in mind.
A Broader View of Engineering
Alisha’s role has evolved significantly since her internship. Taking ownership of projects across different areas has given her the opportunity to contribute beyond individual features.
“I have contributed to frontend, backend, cloud infrastructure, performance optimization, and solution design. Beyond writing code, I have increasingly focused on understanding the problem, thinking about scalability, and helping the team arrive at the right solution.”
That broader perspective has also influenced how she contributes to the team. Sharing knowledge and supporting teammates are important parts of building the kind of engineering culture she wants to be part of. Her experience at iQuanti has also helped her think about the larger outcome of her work.
“I also feel that iQuanti has gradually shaped me to think beyond my individual contributions and develop the skills needed to become a future leader—understanding different perspectives, making thoughtful decisions, supporting others, and taking responsibility for the larger outcome.”
When the First Solution Doesn’t Work
Not every solution works perfectly the first time, and Alisha sees those moments as opportunities to learn and improve. She has learned to revisit an approach, understand what could have been done differently, and apply those insights to future problems.
“One lesson I have learned is that not every solution will work perfectly the first time, and that is often where the most valuable learning happens.” This approach has made her more comfortable with challenges and ambiguity.
“Instead of seeing those moments as failures, I have learned to use them to understand what could have been done differently and improve the way I approach similar problems in the future.” As she puts it, “iQuanti has taught me to be comfortable with change and ambiguity.”
Ownership Starts With Understanding Why
For Alisha, ownership goes beyond completing an assigned task. It means understanding why something needs to be built, considering its impact, and taking responsibility for the outcome.

That approach means looking at problems from more than a technical perspective. Client needs and business impact also play a role in determining whether a solution creates real value.
“A solution ultimately creates value when it solves a real client problem, improves their experience, or contributes to the business in a meaningful way.”
Discovering new places and enjoying creative pursuits
What Keeps Her Engaged
There is always something new to learn in Alisha’s role, whether it is a technology, a different way of solving a problem, or a better understanding of the business. Collaboration is another part of the work she enjoys, particularly bringing different perspectives together and seeing an idea become a solution that creates real impact.
Her experiences across different projects have also helped her develop the confidence to ask questions, explore different approaches, learn what she needs along the way, and take ownership of the outcome.
Beyond Work
Outside work, Alisha enjoys traveling and exploring new places. She also enjoys painting when she wants to do something creative and occasionally picks up a good book when she wants some quiet time.
Advice for New Joiners
Alisha encourages new joiners to stay curious, look beyond their job descriptions, and understand the purpose behind their work. She advises asking questions and taking on unfamiliar challenges. Building relationships across teams is equally important, helping people learn from different experiences and perspectives. As she puts it, networking creates opportunities to learn, collaborate, and understand the broader business. For Alisha, growth comes not only from learning new technologies, but also from solving problems, building relationships, and taking ownership.
